報告人簡介：
Dr. Baozhong Meng is Associate Professor (Virology) in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of Guelph. He is a world leader in grape virology and has made significant contributions to the study of Grapevine rupestris stem pitting-associated virus (GRSPaV), a widespread virus that is associated with the Rugose disease complex. His research group has published numerous research articles and invited reviews in high impact journals such as Journal of General Virology. He is also a co-recipient of a United States patent on GRSPaV. Research in Dr. Meng’s laboratory is supported by grants from Natural Science and Engineering Research Council, Canadian Foundation for Innovation, Canada-Israel BARD program and Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs. Current research in Dr. Meng’s laboratory encompasses basic and applied aspects of plant virology and includes (1) development of molecular methods for virus detection, (2) genetic diversity and population structure, (3) the establishment of infectious full-length viral clones for GRSPaV and Potato virus S, and (4) molecular mechanisms for virus movement and replication. Dr. Meng has served on the Virology Committee and Biotechnology Committee of the American Phytopathological Society. He is a reviewer for both national and international research grants and for a wide range of international scientific journals, including Virology, Phytopathology, Virus Research and Archives of Virology.
